One of my favorite movies of all time is Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan. In case you don’t know what the movie is about, here is a short synopsis. Leonard Shelby, a man with anterograde amnesia, struggles to find and kill John G, a man who helped someone else strangle and rape Leonard's wife. Anterograde amnesia is a pathological disorder that prevents the affected from creating new memories after the event that caused the amnesia. The affected can remember everything prior, but cannot remember anything new. In the movie, several scenes are shown either in color or without color. The ones without color provide the events of the movie in chronological order from the beginning while the ones in color show the events starting from the last, going backwards.
Its obvious already that this movie is difficult for most to follow, but this is what makes the movie so amazing. The plot is mildly interesting, but the way it is presented really makes the movie entertaining and extremely suspenseful. Each scene provides more information on why the previous scene occurred or should I say why it will occur, leaving the audience at the edge of their seats wanting to understand more. Memento is definitely top ten in my all time favorite movies along with Silence of The Lambs and the Departed, it is a must see.
